DHL Group has signed an agreement to acquire MNG Kargo
DHL Group has signed an agreement to acquire MNG Kargo, one of Turkey’s leading cargo companies. According to the joint statement, this deal will bring a new momentum to Turkey’s rapidly growing e-commerce and cargo sectors.
Turkey stands out as a country where e-commerce is growing at a double-digit rate, thanks to its young and dynamic population, widespread digital communication network, and established transportation infrastructure, even faster than the European markets. The markets interpret this direct investment in Turkey as a “show of confidence in the country’s economy and growth potential.”
Founded in 2003, MNG Kargo is one of the industry’s leading players, with 27 transfer centers, over 800 branches, and providing employment for approximately 10,000 people. With this acquisition, MNG Kargo will benefit from DHL Group’s international logistics expertise and extensive global network. It will become part of DHL e-commerce unit and complement DHL’s e-commerce European cargo delivery network.
DHL Group CEO, Tobias Meyer, stated that they have identified e-commerce as a mega-trend in logistics due to sustainability, globalization, and digitalization, and they have made it a focus in the 2025 DHL Group Strategy. E-commerce continues to be one of the biggest growth factors for the logistics industry and cargo volumes. Therefore, they are continuously working on expanding their presence in the e-commerce sector through both organic and inorganic growth strategies. The acquisition of MNG Kargo will complement their business portfolio and further expand their established network in this sector.
The completion of the transaction is subject to approval from the Turkish Competition Authority and Information and Communication Technologies Authority.
